Clearance Sale

Clearance Sale was a pricing game on the American television game show The Price is Right. Played from the Season 27 premiere on September 22, 1998 (originally intended for September 21) to January 6, 2009, it was played for three prizes usually valued between $1,000 and $4,000 each. The game was created by former producer Roger Dobkowitz.
Gameplay
The contestant was given three price tags, each with "sale" prices on them, to place on each of the prizes. To win the prizes, the contestant had to place each tag on a prize whose actual retail price is higher than price on the tag. The contestant won only if all three tags were placed correctly.
The price tags were always set up so that the sale price for the most expensive prize was higher than the actual price of the second most expensive prize, whose sale price was higher than the actual price of the least expensive prize; thus, there was only one placement of price tags which would result in a win.
As the game was essentially won by ranking the prizes in order of price, it was often seen as a duplication of Easy as 1 2 3, which has the same goal. However, in Clearance Sale the contestant was given additional information in the form of prices with which to anchor the values of the prizes.
Retirement
Kathy Greco announced Clearance Sale's retirement on December 14, 2009, but no official reason was given for its retirement.
