Claudio Silvestrin

Claudio Silvestrin (Zurich, 5/9/1954) is known
for the serene beauty and elemental forms of his
architecture and interiors. He studied in Milan under
A. G. Fronzoni and at the Architectural Association
in London. Partner in Pawson Silvestrin Architects
(1986-9), he established Claudio Silvestrin Architects
in 1989 with offices in London, and since 2006
in Milan also. The work of the practice encompasses
real estate development, luxury villas and resorts,
private residences, art galleries and museums,
retail stores, domestic interiors and furniture design.
His integrity, clarity of mind, inventiveness and
concern for details is reflected in his architecture:
austere but not extreme, elegant but not ostentatious,
simple but not soulless,contemporary yet timeless.
Clients include Giorgio Armani, Poltrona Frau,
Victoria Miro, Calvin Klein, illycaffé,
Anish Kapoor, YTL Corporation,
the “Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo”
for whom he has designed the museum in Turin
and the internationally acclaimed hip hop artist
and producer Kanye West. In 2006 he has co-founded
ClaudioSilvestrinGiulianaSalmaso Architects,
a partnership devoted to architectural competitions.
In early 2009 the partnership won the project
for Tetra Pak visitors’ centre in Modena, Italy.
