Claudia Ellquist is a retired attorney and former co-chair of both the Arizona Green Party and the Green Party of Pima County, and currently serves as one of two delegates to the national Green Party. Ellquist was a candidate for Pima County Attorney in 2004, receiving 23,028 votes for 7.64% of the total vote . A key issue of her campaign was a proposed four-year moratorium of the death penalty. Ellquist ran for the same office again in 2008, receiving 22,747 votes for 6.31% of the total. Family life and education Elliquist was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and attended Palo Verde High School in Tucson, graduating in 1966. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1973 and a law degree in 1976, both from the University of Arizona. She has lived in Tucson, Arizona for 50 years. She has also served as Executive Director for the Coalition of Arizonans to Abolish the Death Penalty, and led the successful campaign to expand Medicaid coverage to all Arizonans living in poverty.
