On 19 March 2008, a scheduled domestic Cirrus Airlines flight coming from Berlin-Tempelhof landed at Mannheim City Airport and overshot the 1066m runway, coming to rest on a well near a highway. The plane structure was severely damaged and the left wing and propeller were partly ripped off. The small airport remained closed until the next morning.
Background The aircraft was a Dornier Do 328 (registration number D-CTOB), built in Germany in 1999 flying in the colours of its former operator, Excellent Air.
