Cinco de Moustache

Cinco de Moustache is an annual festival celebrated nationwide. At the present time two known version of the holiday exist:
1.) Celebrated on the first Friday after February. This observes the closing of Full Beard February, and all participants shave their beards to a mustache of their choosing with the primary rule being that 'no hair may remain on the chin'. For effect, participants often supplement their mustaches with a costume or theme to be adorned the entire day.
2.) Celebrated on the Saturday closest to May 5 of each year, replacing the traditional Mexican Cinco de Mayo festivities. The festival borrows its name from an interlude between the Less Than Jake songs "Richard Allen George... No, It's Just Cheez" and "Scott Farcas Takes It on the Chin" from their Hello Rockview album. The band itself held Cinco de Moustache celebrations in 1997 and 2008. The festival began in 2003 and is now in its eighth year. Burt Reynolds is the unofficial icon of the festival.
Male attendees of the festival generally sport moustaches of the handlebar or "law enforcement" variety. Female attendees are encouraged to fabricate a moustache to add to the festival's ambiance. Rather than drinking cerveza, participants generally consume macro-brewed pilseners such as PBR, Bud Light, and Miller Lite.
