Charles L. "Chuck" Smith (born December 21, 1957) is an American football coach who is the current head coach at Boyle County High School in Danville, Kentucky. Smith is one of the most accomplished coaches in the history of Kentucky high school football. He was named the Kentucky Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations in 2003, four times by the Louisville Courier-Journal (1999, 2000, 2001, and 2004), and by the Associated Press in 1999. In 2003, Smith became the first head coach to win 5 consecutive state championships in Kentucky high school football history.. Playing career Smith was an all-state linebacker at Jeffersontown High School. He was a University of Kentucky letterman from 1978 to 1980 as a linebacker under coach Fran Curci. Smith was second on the team in tackles as a senior and third as a junior. College Smith was the linebackers coach at the University of Kentucky from 2005 to 2012. He was also the recruiting coordinator from 2009 to 2012.
