After the death of journalist Michelle Lang in Afghanistan on in December 2009 the Foundation issued a call for a possible gender-neutral replacement to the "O Canada" anthem line "True patriot love, in all they sons' command." Entries were received from across Canada, and narrowed down to a shortlist of three which included Christy Ann Martine Zutautas' line "Faithful and diverse, in unity we stand." The shortlist was submitted to three of Robert Stanley Weir's descendants. Robert Stanley Weir wrote the English version of the Canadian national anthem in 1908. Robert Stanley Weir's great granddaughter stated that she found Zutautas' line most appealing but favoured the line "True patriot love in all of us command" because it meant the least distruption in the way the anthem is sung. The Foundation submitted the winning line to Parliament but the federal goverment decided not to change the words of the Canadian National Anthem after receiving numerous negative comments. .
