Christina Di Bona

Christina Di Bona (born 7 May 1991), is an Australian Artist and Painter. She is predominately known for creating Contemporary Portraiture based on iconic personalities and contemporary celebrities. She also creates Abstract Expressionist artworks.
Influences
Sydney based artist Christina Di Bona's artwork is heavily influenced by Pop Art founder Andy Warhol, evident through her large scale and often vibrant portraits of icons and celebrities.She also cites her Great grandfather (an amateur artist who produced oil paintings), and her father ( an interior designer), as her initial influences.She signs her artwork's with the initials C.M.D (with the letter "M" referencing not only her middle name,but also in tribute to her paternal grandmother Mary,who is the eldest daughter of her Great- Grandfather).
Career
Di Bona first exhibited at age 15, as part of the Bodgies,Westies & Homies : Growing up in Western Sydney exhibition, an initiative of Fairfield City Council in conjunction with the Fairfield Museum & Gallery,and curated by Kim Tao. The exhibition explored the concept of being young in 2006, with comparisons from previous generations who grew up in the 1950s and 1960s.
At the age of 16,with financial assistance from her High School, Di Bona attended a short course at the National Art School under the tutelage of Australian artist David Fairbairn, winner of the 1999 Dobell Prize (Drawing),and 2002 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.The following year, she was placed in the top percentile for her graduating year, statewide, for HSC in Visual Arts. This consequently earnt her a place on the NSW 2008 HSC Distinguished Achievers List, for Visual Arts.(She also earnt a place for Advanced English and Legal Studies,achieving over 90 in both subjects.)
Due to her high mark in HSC Visual Arts, Christina Di Bona was selected as part of ArtExpress for 2008. Two pieces from Di Bona's work N0th1ng But Numb3r5 was consequently exhibited at Port Macquarie Glasshouse Regional Gallery.
After taking time out to focus on her tertiary studies,Di Bona launched her website in mid 2011.
Di Bona was featured in the 2011 Glebe Art Prize exhibition, and travelled to New York in October, 2011, due to Gallery Interest.
In March 2012,Christina Di Bona announced that she had begun working on her first book, showcasing the defining artworks of her career to date, stating on her Facebook Page "I feel very lucky to have this opportunity". A release date is yet to be announced.
Personal life
Di Bona attended two different primary schools in Sydney's South West.She completed years 7-12 at Bossley Park High School and currently attends University of New South Wales's College of Fine Arts,studying a Bachelor of Art Education (majoring in Painting and Drawing). She is currently based in Sydney, NSW.
