Chris Kaput

One of the most influential and prolific producers of underground art-pop in the Netherlands. Multi-Instrumentalist, known to play the piano, keyboards, guitar, percussion and on occasion accordeon. Co-founder and member of the North-Friesian Art Pop Collective which came to be one of the most influential underground bands in the art-pop scene which emanated in the Netherlands in the late 1980s. Most of the music which is produced by Chris Kaput is characterized by its eclectic, improvisational nature, drawing inspiration from the French ragga scene with bands such as "Les Alcoolytes", funk, but also hardrock and Hip-Hop. While producing music for a great range of artists is his main occupation, he is also known as one of the driving forces behind the extravagant live shows of the North-Friesian Art Pop Collective which became legendary in the late 1980s and early 1990s. During some shows the North-Friesian Art Pop Collective was known to add exotic instruments such as bagpipes and sithars while blending in inspirations taken from tradtional Scottish and Indian music. More recently involved in the production of the reunion album of Twarres which is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2008.

In August 2006 it was announced that Chris would collaborate with underground dutch rap phenomenon "Gadzjiggasjizza." Chris has said of this collaboration that "it was time to instill some of those Buddhist vibes into the dutch rap scene." "G's transcendental approach and his attitude,latitude and longitude appealed to me." One of the songs on which Chris participates is "Shit is wicked on these Buddhist streets" where Buddhist mantras are blended in with transcendental beats. Another is "Monks in tha Hood," which features Buddhist monks battling with each other on beats produced by Kaput.

Apart from his musical life and legacy, Chris Kaput is known for his spirituality. He is a known buddhist, but also a supporter of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar the famous spiritual leader and founder of the international Art of Living Foundation. Furthermore known for his adeptness in transcendental meditation, claiming to have been 'the first half-Friesian to ever have transcended up to the level of complete transcendental consciousness'. Also known to be a fervent supporter of the spreading of universal awareness based on the the fundamental belief that all humans are equal and that what is needed to create a better world is an awareness of the relative nature of our reality above anything else.known for his spirituality.
