Chelsea Provost

Chelsea Provost is an intense advocate of Learning to Read in Africa, LRA, which is a non-profit organization in the country of Zimbabwe that works to send English (and translated Shona) picture books to the nation. She was born in 1963, in the small town of Holland, MA. She founded the program in 1982. She has been working on this program for most of her life, and was inspired to do so in high school, when she found out how poor literacy and communication was effecting Africa when she was researching the slave trade.

She also works with children learning to read at the nearby Hitchcock Academy in Brimfield, MA.
