Chavez family of New Mexico

The progenitors of the Chavez family of New Mexico were Don Fernando Durán y Chaves II was born in 1610 in Nuevo México, New Spain, and he married his wife Ana María de Carvajal y Holguin in Santa Fe. Don Fernando was the son of Don Pedro Gómez Durán y Chávez of Valverde de Llerena and Isabel de Bohorquez Baca of Mexico City.
