Charodi Samaj

Charodi Samaja are a Hindu kshatriya subsect primarily from the Indian state of Karnataka . Charodi profess the Advaita philosophy propounded by Adi Shankaracharya.
Charodi Samaj primarily speak Konkani as their mother tongue. The Konkani they speak is slightly different from the Konkani spoken by other communities such as the Catholics, Navayaths, and Siddis. The Konkani spoken by Goan Charodi, and Karnataka charodi is also different. The Konkani spoken by Karnataka Charodi has borrowed loan words from Kannada . This was due to several centuries of domicile by the Charodi in these areas.
Geographic distribution
Charodi Samaja people are mainly concentrated in the Honnavar, Sirsi, Taluk of Uttara Kannada district, Mangalore,Udupi,Kundapur,Siroor Dakshina Kannada district, Sagara, and Shimoga of Shimoga district, District in Karnataka and . They are now spread all over India, especially in metropolitan cities of Bangalore, Goa, Mumbai, and other industrial and business centres.
