Charlemont Star FC

Charlemont Star FC are a football club founded in 1957, based in West Bromwich, England. Charlemont Star FC played in the West Bromwich Sunday league (later named Sandwell league).
Charlemont finished in second place behind 'Bush FC', the two teams were close with one point separation and two cup finals played out between them. The first ending in a 1-1 draw resulting in a replay, in which Charlemont won 2-1 and the second ending 3-1 to Bush FC.
The 1960s saw the club playing in the West Bromwich league, while the 1980s and 1990s saw them into the Sandwell league. The club, nicknamed the 'Star', played on the pitches at Bird End, Charelmont, West Bromwich until the 1990's and then changed to their current home venue, hydes road.
The 2002-2006 era saw success for Star winning the senior amateur league in 2003 leading to promotion to division 2, in the same season the league success coincided with a good cup run of reaching the semi finals before losing 2-1 to Water Orton United. In 2003/2004 Charlemont reached the 5th round of the Birmingham County FA junior cup. The next season saw the club reaching the semi final of the Birmingham County FA junior cup.
A new era has now begun with the club being reformed in 2010 under the management of Andrew Wilcoxson, the new squad are a group of young players who are now looking towards the league campaign and matching cup success of the past. The first season saw the club finish in 10th of the West Bromwich christian football league, after a season of playing together the club toured Norway, playing the likes of Stabæk FC. The team took a summer break which saw players leave and new faces arriving. The newer squad had a series of preseason games amounting an impressive total of wins, this allowed a core nucleus to be formed.
The squad are currently on a new league campaign and showing vast improvements on their last seasons performance.
