Charla Nash was attacked on February 19, 2009 by a chimp at a friend’s house. In the attack at the home of Sandy Herold in Stamford, Connecticut she lost her eyes, lips, hands, nose, various parts of her scalp and parts of her jawbone to her friend's 200-pound chimpanzee that had been suffering from lyme disease until the chimp's owner stabbed it with a butcher knife in order to save her friend. Since then Nash has been recuperating at Stamford Hospital after hours of extensive surgery. She appeared on the Oprah Winfrey on November 11, 2009 to discuss her injuries. For the first time during this interview, she revealed her face to the world, expressing further the extent of her injuries.
