Chandu Yarram is an Indian-born American film director, writer and producer. He won independent filmmaking industry awards for his feature films <nowiki/><nowiki/><nowiki/>The Distance Between Us<nowiki/> <nowiki/><nowiki/>and <nowiki/><nowiki/>Uncommitted <nowiki/><nowiki/><nowiki/>at The World Indie Film Festival (TWIFF) and The Online Film Festival (TOFF).
Career
Born in Chirala, Andhra Pradesh, Yarram developed an interest in visual art in a college where he started working on cartoon strips, which were published in the regional magazines and newspapers, including Prabhanews and Andhra Jyothy. After working as a software engineer in Hyderabad, he later immigrated to the USA.
Yarram's first short films were '<nowiki/>Year End'<nowiki/> and '<nowiki/>Money Matters.
In 2014 he released his first full-length feature film '<nowiki/>The Distance Between Us, where the leading roles were performed by Rahul Rai, who received Best New Talent award at the London Asian Film Festival for ‘ and Leah Kavita . The film won “Best Narrative Feature Film” award at The World Indie Film Festival (TWIFF) in 2014. It was officially selected by The Greater Washington Immigration Film Festival in 2014. The picture was shot on locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Yarram's second full-length film <nowiki/>'Uncommitted was released in 2015. The film won “Best Narrative Feature” at The World Indie Film Fest (TWIFF) in 2015 and “Best Feature Film” at The Online Film Festival (TOFF) in 2015. It was an official selection by at the Los Angeles CineFest, New York’s Festival of Colors, and Blow Up Chicago International Art House Film Festival. The world premiere was held by TWIFF at New People Cinema in San Francisco in September 2015.
