Chandana Jayaratne

Professor Chandana Jayaratne (also known as Chandana Jayarathne) is a professor of Physics at University of Colombo.
Early life and education
Jayarantne was educated at Nalanda College Colombo and graduated with a B.Sc degree in Physics from University of Colombo He also received his Doctor of Philosophy from Uppsala University Sweden for Atmospheric Physics.
Jayaratne was presented with Nalanda Keerthi Sri award in 2008 by his alma mater Nalanda College, Colombo.
Career
Jayaratne is a member of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS). He is also involved with Sri Lanka Standards Institute in advisory capacity for formulation of Lightning Protection systems. and a consultant to the Space Applications Division of Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies University of Moratuwa. Jayaratne is also a member of the International Board for International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Jayaratne is a past President of Institute of Physics, Sri Lanka.
