fighter and former Special Operations Force Recon, United States Marine. Chad is the former Legacy Fighting Championship Bantamweight champion and also has fought once each for Strikeforce and Bellator Fighting Championships.
Background
Robichaux is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and has been a martial artist since the age of 5. After a life of martial arts and practicing BJJ since 1996, he was promoted in Brazil to the rank of black belt and is a direct black belt of the legendary Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and multiple time world champion, Professor David Vieira Da Silva. He is also a black belt in traditional jiu-jitsu, and a Combative Fighting System black belt.
He currently trains under an elite top tier of coaches to include Professor Vinicius Magalhaes “Draculino” for BJJ, and Randy Couture (UFC Champion and Hall of Famer), Coach Brad Anderson (Olympic Alternated Team Greco Wrestler and longtime training partner of Randy Couture), 33-1 Pro Boxer Lewis Wood, and Muay Thai specialist Daniel Kim. Some of his students and key training partners include BJJ black belt Strikeforce, WEC and DREAM veteran Todd Moore.
MMA career
Robichaux made his professional MMA debut in December 1999 against Robert Ard where he won by an armbar quickly in round 1. He amassed a 13-0 record, including a victory over Humberto DeLeon at Strikeforce: Houston and defeating Lewis McKenzie to earn the LFC Bantamweight title. Robichaux then suffered his first career loss in 2011 by TKO to Bellator champion Zach Macklovsky in a fight televised on MTV2. He would go on to lose another fight, before getting back to his fast winning ways by beating Joseph Sandoval in a 0:51 second submission at Legacy FC 11 (earning submission of the night honors). He was supposed to fight Will Campuzano for the vacant LFC flyweight championship at Legacy 12, but the fight was cancelled when Robichaux was not cleared by medical officials at weigh in. He was immediately admitted into the ER for what was later learned to be kidney failure induced by a kidney stone and a serious kidney infection, and inflammation of the kidneys.
