Early life
Originally from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Bowie attended Dalhousie University and the University of King's College in Halifax. At University, he was a member of the Dalhousie-King's Campus Conservatives and served as President of the Nova Scotia Young Progressive Conservatives.
Political career
While studying at the University of King’s College, Bowie publicly mused about running for mayor of the Halifax Regional Municipality, but ultimately decided against entering the race.
At the Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative Party's Annual General Meeting in 2008, Bowie's contributions to the party were recognized when he was presented with the Paul Levy Memorial Award.
Bowie served as a member of the rapid response team for Progressive Conservative Premier Rodney MacDonald's unsuccessful re-election effort in 2009.
In March 2010 Bowie was featured in Profile Halifax magazine as one of Nova Scotia’s top young social and entrepreneurial leaders.
Following MacDonald's defeat, Bowie was quick to endorse Credit Union Atlantic CEO Jamie Baillie's candidacy for leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party. Bowie went on to serve as a key member of Baillie's campaign team, working as the Manager of Electronic Communications and organizing to ensure the support of the party's ex-officio leadership convention delegates. Ballie was acclaimed leader of the Progressive Conservative Party in October 2010.
Following Baillie's leadership victory, Bowie went on to serve in a senior communications role in the new leader's office. He was also the Executive Assistant to Chief of Staff Robert McCleave for a brief period. During this time he also took a lead role in preparing the Progressive Conservative Party for the upcoming general election in a volunteer capacity.
In January 2013 Bowie joined Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's campaign team and signed on as the Conservative Party of Canada's Manager of Election Readiness, reporting directly to National Campaign Director, Jenni Byrne.
