Centro del Sur (Center of the South) was Ponce's largest enclosed shopping mall until 1992, when Plaza del Caribe opened. The mall is located at the intersection of routes PR-163 and PR-2. Size Centro del Sur has some 60 stores. History The mall opened in the early 1950s. With over of retail space, and located in the heart of the city, it was Ponce's first and only shopping mall for almost four decades. It is managed by Commercial Centers Management, the largest commercial centers management company in Puerto Rico. Location A limited-access highway, PR-12, also known as Avenida Malecon, that opened in 1995, was built to the western edge of the mall providing easy access to the shopping center. |
