CBA Cable is a coiled cable commonly found on telephones. It has the interesting property of being capable of developing bell knots. History In 1959 the 700 series of telephone, introduced by the Post Office, was the first telephone to utilize CBA cord to connect the handset to the telephone. The 700 series was designed for the Post Office by W.J. Avery of Ericsson, but owed a distinct debt to the Bell 500. Bell knots Bell knots are the kinks that can form in CBA Cable where the rotation will switch from right to left. The cause of the kinks is that people will often answer the phone with their right hand, transfer to the phone to the left hand to take a note (which twists the cord), and then hanging the phone up with the left hand without untwisting it.
