CAUSE-NY

Creating Awareness and Understanding through Service and Education (CAUSE-NY) is a department of the JCRC-NY that enables and assists in the creation and growth of community-based initiatives and leadership trainings in Greater New York. This area is home to more than 200 different ethnic, faith, race, and language groups.
CAUSE-NY promotes coalitions of diverse peoples in order to build a better New York. It works at the neighborhood level and implements programs that stimulate working partnerships and foster mutual respect. CAUSE-NY seeks to find areas of common concern, increase understanding and cultural competency, and reduce prejudice. Since 1993, it has helped organize the growth of 18 neighborhood-based coalitions.
Community and Coalition Building
CAUSE-NY works with grassroots coalitions of local Jewish community organizations and other ethnic, civic, and religious groups throughout the eight-county metropolitan area. The collaborations focus on such issues as the provision of health care to all groups; aging populations and neighborhood transitions; special outreach assistance programs for recent immigrants; and integration of émigrés into communities.

The goal of WAAB is to prevent racial and ethnic struggles from tearing apart the citizenry and instead, to use our initiatives to promote cooperation that will make Brooklyn better.
New York-Jerusalem Exchange (NYJEE)
This program links experts in diversity and community building in Israel and New York. It educates professionals from Israel, New York, and around the world on relevant issues in their field, using web-based technology for Webinars to bring them together. NYJEE focuses on coalition building, community organizing, interfaith dialogue, community mediation, dealing with traumas from emergencies, war, relocation, and provides on-line courses to connect international partners. It facilitated the creation of Me Ha Lev Coalition in Jerusalem which is a multi-stakeholder coalition that has navigated the new Welfare to Work Program in Israel.
Crisis Management
CAUSE-NY proactively builds relationships between communities to effectively mitigate tensions quickly when conflicts occur. The deep-rooted trust that we have built with many community leaders allows us to help communities take action and move quickly to resolve crises.
