Cathe Jones, (born Catherine Anne Boudreau in 1964) is an author, journalist, atheist, animal trainer, and stand-up comedian. Writing Jones' writing career began at a young age. Her first published works were essays and poems that appeared in the Boston Herald American when she was an elementary school student. Books Meeker's Manners is both a graphic novel and an animation filled Alternative Role Playing Game, featuring twelve volumes, containing three separate story arcs. Due for publication August, 2009, the game and books portray strong archetypes, intricate plots, and gamers are invited to play as characters within the script. My Doctor Is Killing Me is a book based on the patient advocacy blog by the same name. The book contains pro-active information for people who want to navigate the health care system, their own medical histories, and make informed decisions regarding health and medical treatments. The story also chronicles Jones' fight as a patient to obtain diagnoses and proper health care in the Veterans Health Care System, and through private HMOs. Godless Grief is Jones' grief book written specifically from and for the Atheist perspective. In it, she discusses not only the grief of losing friends and family, but also loss relating to job, limb, divorce, and other highly sensitive topics. Contributors to this book included Dr. Richard Dawkins, James Randi, Margaret Downey, and the Atheist Foundation of Australia. The book project was nominated for several awards in both writing style and for subject matter. TimeLine, was awarded for its portrayal of child abuse and those who over come it. Another book, CelebRatties , is about the history of rodents in film, television, literature, and video work from the years 1900 to 2005. Jones also published eleven chapbooks, including DeepNDarkNBlue. Quill Keepers The Las Vegas Quill Keepers, a women's writing group, was founded by Jones. The author brings together women who write in several genres to discuss their work, and to help promote the support of women authors in Southern Nevada. The Quill Keepers were recent presenters at the Vegas Valley Book Festival, and the Las Vegas Writer's Conference. Journalism Jones has written for the Associated Press. She holds the honor of being the only journalist who has had twelve articles on the craft of writing appear in the National Association of Women Writers Newsletter in 2005. Her photographs appear in several magazines and periodicals, including an Austin City Guide, produced by Schmap. Public presentations Jones has presented works at international events including South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, at the Royal Shakespeare Academy in London, England, and at Queen's Hyde Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She also tours, offering workshops on the topic of grief; using humour. In September 2008, her book Godless Grief was featured at a workshop for the Atheist Alliance International annual meeting in Long Beach, California. From 1985-1990 Jones toured the United States reading passages from her works, including her chapbooks; during this time she also appeared on syndicated radio programs in California, Illinois, New York, and Florida. Film, Television, Radio, and Stand-up As an Ahmanson Scholar, while in California Institute of the Arts, Cathe Jones created the animated film Revelation/Transition, which received awards from several university film festivals for the sensitive, yet demonstrative work relating to death, and family loss. As a production assistant for Boss Film, Cathe worked on the film projects that included Alien 3, Batman 2, and several 65mm Ride Films, under Academy Award Winning Effects Artist, Richard Edlund. She continued her career, serving under Richard Goetz Productions in Boston, on several commercials and television projects including the Massachusetts Lottery and New England Telephone campaigns. A variety of projects she worked on won advertising awards, including the Magnavox television campaign, featuring John Cleese. Jones later worked as an animal trainer for film and television. Her credits include The Best of Animal Planet's Pet Star, Penn and Teller's ' series on Showtime, CSI: Las Vegas, and in several music videos. As a stand-up comedian, Jones appeared as a regular in the famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles for over ten years. Second City's Los Angeles troupe served as home for Cathe's comedy for three years in the early 1990s, until the branch was shut down. She also is chair and emcee for Comed-o-Therapy, the annual comedy event for The Jimmy Fund, that honors a family member who has battled lung cancer. She also produced and co-hosted the Women of Comedy show in Las Vegas for several years with comedienne Carole Montgomery. Cathe is now a member of the Onyx Theater's Short Bus Comics show appearing both as emcee, and featured performer along with Roman, The Serial Comic, offering an alternative take to the standard stand-up genre. Cathe B performed in the Pat & Mike World Wide Web Radio Show for Premiere Networks in the 1990s, and in Las Vegas was co-host of the show, Dating Response- a radio based dating game show. Personal Cathe Jones currently resides in Las Vegas, with her husband, Mike Jones, the jazz pianist for Penn and Teller's live nightly show at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino.
