Carlos Manuel da Silva Santos

Carlos Manuel da Silva Santos (born July 6, 1994, Leiria, Portugal) is a Portuguese businessman. In 2015, he began lecturing at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management at the University of Lisbon. He is also known for founding Ethos Asset Management.
Early life and education
Santos was born in 1994 in Leiria, Portugal, into an upper-middle-class family. In 2015, he received his bachelor's degree in economics, followed by a master's degree in accounting, corporate finance, and international taxation in 2017 from ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management at the University of Lisbon.
Career
In 2015, he became a professor at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management and was appointed as visiting professor from 2016. In addition, he also worked at the Banco de Portugal (BdP), where he held positions in the Monetary and Financial Statistics and the Centralization of Credit Responsibilities Sections of the Statistics Department and designed the restructuring of the BdP database, in partnership with other Central Banks of the Eurozone.
Santos founded Ethos Asset Management Inc. in 2012 in Portugal. It is also has offices in the United States. It finances government and various projects. Ethos provides capital to structure projects and restructure debt.
In 2021, Santos developed the Philanthropic Financing Facility (PFF) at The Ethos Group. As of 2022, Ethos has a presence in 72 countries and operates in the US, Portugal, UK, Portugal, Brazil, South Africa, and Turkey.
Recognition
Santos has been recognized as Best Economist by the Bank of Portugal in 2016. He has also received the Ernst & Young Award in 2017 and Africa Dubai Honours Award in 2021.
