CarePlus

CarePlus is a message based nurse call system designed for hospitals and aged care applications.
History
The CarePlus Nurse Call system was originally launched by ELA Systems in October 2008 and was acquired by NiQ Health in early 2010. The application was originally intended as an improvement of the overall communication process however, its use expanded to get alerts and messages during patient care and emergencies. It received VDE DIN 0834 and UL1069 certification in the call system category, and EN 60601-1 in Medical electrical equipment category. The company later partnered with ClinicAll infotainment systems to integrate their nurse call system on the patient entertainment terminals to offer multiple alarm and messages depending on the need and the acuity of the patient. The company is headquartered in the USA with offices in the United Kingdom and Australia. CarePlus is regulated and international standards, including FDA (from US), TGA (from Aus), and EU Medical Devices Directive, and it is advertised to meet privacy requirements of HIPAA approval.
Function
The application integrates with patient call button in the room and bedside throughout the hospital to mitigate communication issues between hospital departments, caregivers and between nurses and patients. The CarePlus nurse call system has a modular control unit with embedded software, connected to smartphones through Mobile Connect enables clinicians to be alerted to patient calls, alarms and messages and also provides a real time ward status report and nurse call response time reports to networked PCs and whiteboards. The application has a callback feature that allows nurses to speak directly with the patient and learn their request.
