Major Distributions
Care and Share's most famous series of distributions was not of food, but water. In June 2016, the EPA raised their standards for the safe amount of perflourinated chemicals (PFCs) in the drinking water supply. As a result, several water districts in Security-Widefield and Fountain were obligated to inform the public of dangerous PFC levels - according to the new metric. The water districts claimed that the level of chemicals was still safe, but were met with community skepticism. Wary residents began using bottled water for consumption, until the financial burden became unreasonable for them. In response to the crisis, Care and Share deposited truck loads of drinking water to Security on two (2) separate occasions in late June and early July. Of that water, $108,000 worth was supplied by the United States Air Force Academy.
