Cale Mills

Cale Mills (born Cale Andrew Mills on April 8, 1984) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and model. He is best known as Kris Allen's college friend who auditioned with him for American Idol and currently plays guitar and keyboards while providing backing vocals in the Kris Allen Band.
Early days
Mills was born and raised in Arkansas by Shane and Peggy Mills. He has one sister, Cassie, who is a designer.
Mills attended the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas where he was a member of Chi Alpha fraternity. Mills credits music as the "one outlet" that brought him "back to God" when he went through "hard circumstances" in college.
Latture
In the years prior to auditioning for American Idol, Mills formed the pop-rock band with six friends from Arkansas, including band-namesake Seth Latture, in February 2006. Mills is considered a "principle songwriter" for the group and provides vocals and instrumentation.
Mills and Seth Latture recorded a six-song demo at Blue Chair Studios in Arkansas. They went on to distribute over 700 copies and book events for the band, including a benefit concert for mission trips to Thailand.
Mills left the band in February 2008.
Kris Allen Band
In 2009, Mills flew to Los Angeles, California to audition for Kris Allen's backing band. He had previously spoken with Allen about the possibility of joining the band during the 2009 Idols Live! Tour.
Historically, Allen and Mills met and became friends years prior to Allen's American Idol win as fraternity brothers in Chi Alpha at the University of Central Arkansas. Mills attended multiple tapings of the singing competition to sit with Allen's family during both performance and results nights.
Mills initially auditioned for the band as a guitarist and later, as a keyboardist to show his versatility. He joined the band for their first live performance at a Miami Dolphins tailgate party in October 2009 as a keyboardist and back-up guitarist/vocalist.
Since late 2009, the band, dubbed the Kris Allen Band, has toured across the US and internationally in both Malaysia and Europe. They have both headlined shows and opened for several acts including Keith Urban, Maroon 5, The Barenaked Ladies, and Lifehouse. The band has also performed on multiple television programs such as American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and The Tonight Show with Conan O'brien.
The band is also known as Sirk and The Dirty Minds Blues Explosion, a name which they performed under at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, California in April 2011.
Songwriting
Mills has been writing songs for several years and is best known for his co-write of the song "Is It Over" which appears on Kris Allen's self-titled debut album. The song was co-written with Allen and Mike Elizondo.
Additionally, Mills is the co-principle songwriter for the Arkansas-based band Latture.
Most recently, Mills has been cited by Kris Allen as a co-writer on the unreleased song "Leave You Alone," which was premiered by the Kris Allen Band at a show in Portland, Oregon.
Modeling
In addition to his music and songwriting, Mills is known as a fashion and life model. This was first brought to light when he was named Cosmopolitan Magazine's Bachelor of the Year for Arkansas in 2009.
He also posed as a model for the Elizabeth Darcy Wedding Collection campaign in 2010.
