Cake Like Lady Gaga is a song by American recording artist Lady Gaga. The song was written and produced by Lady Gaga and DJ White Shadow, and was recorded on the tour bus during The Born This Way Ball with DJ White Shadow. Revealed in mid 2012, and later released on Spotify.
A remix debuted during Mugler womenswear Spring/Summer 2013.
Lyrics
The subject of the lyrics is Lady Gaga seen as a money ("cake") maker using elements inherent of hip hop culture: "champagne", "private plane", "bang roll", "sold out show", "Phantom Pearl". The lyrics could also be seen as a take on gangsta rap with the profanity, implied violence, drug reference. Some of the verses refer to Lady Gaga's life including Donatella (Versace) designing clothes for her, "papa Joe" (her dad name, Joe), "Singing Paparazzi, a mention of her 30 million fans on Twitter, name dropping Hedi (Slimane) who did the photoshoot of "The Fame Monster" who is now at "Yves", "Prada" and more.
Thiery Mugler Remix
The Mugler Remix included new verses using a different pitch change. An extended version appeared later on LittleMonsters.com featuring the whole song plus the remix as the same pitch in the remix.
Live performance
Lady Gaga preformed the song during The Born This Way Ball only on select dates as the final song in the encore following The Edge Of Glory and Marry The Night by popular demand by fans so that they can hear it live.
