Cabair International Aviation was a group of aviation companies based in the United Kingdom that ceased trading in September 2011. It was formerly known as the "Cabair Group Ltd" and "Cabair Holdings Limited" prior to January 2011 when it changed ownership. Some of the companies that came under the Cabair group were, Cabair College of Air Training, Cabair Flying Schools, Aviation Career Associates, Cabair Maintenance and The London Heli Centre to name a few. On the 28th of September 2011 the company ceased trading leaving hundreds of staff unpaid for the previous two months. The company also left hundreds of students with their training incomplete and several hundred thousand pounds out of pocket. It filed for administration in the UK High Court of Justice on the 1st of November 2011 (notice code 2140 / 9121 of 2011) and this was publicized on the same day in the London Gazette. Several aircraft were seized and empounded by airports for unpaid fuel and landing fees. Some of the these aircraft belonging to students and customers who did not realize at the time, that Cabair had not been paying their creditors, in effect taking the students money, but not paying their bills. This led to hundreds of innocent people, students, aircraft owners, maintenance companies and staff, all loosing thousands of pounds. Depending on the level of training, some students lost between a few hundred pounds and £80,000. The company had bases in the UK for training at Elstree, Cranfield, Bournemouth, Biggin Hill, Blackbushe, Denham, Rochester and Wycombe. The only other European facility outside the UK was in Spain at Requena. Cabair also had affiliations with aviation schools in the USA in State of Florida at the aiports of Kissimmee and Merritt Island. Training at Kissimmee and Merritt Island also ceased on the 28th September 2011. The Flight Instructors lost their jobs and the students on flying courses were sent home to the UK. Cabair offered ab initio private and commercial aeroplane and helicopter training leading to both FAA and JAA Licences at PPL, CPL and ATPL level. Training was offered as a "first officer integrated route" or "modular pilot training". There was also an airline sponsorship entry scheme. Cabair offered first officer direct training at Cranfield and the USA but removed this from it's European training centre in Requena, Spain. Cabair Modular ATPL Groundschool Training was offered from their headquarters at Bournemouth, Dorset in the UK under the name European Pilot Training Academy (EPTA). According to The Telegraph, Cabair was one of the largest schools of its kind in Europe.
