The Business Services Association - the BSA - is a policy and research organisation that brings together all those who are interested in delivering efficient, flexible and cost-effective services across the private and public sectors. It represents UK outsourced service providers as they operate across the private and public sectors. The BSA works closely with , politicians, regulators, the media and other stakeholders to promote the interests of the industry. Its Chief Executive is Mark Fox. Membership Full members of the BSA are active in providing services across the private and public sectors. They have a combined worldwide turnover of around £80 billion and employ around 2 million people. In the UK these firms have a turnover of around £30 billion and employ around 500,000 employees. Associate members with whom it tries to further the interests of their members. Work The mission of the BSA is to understand how service provision across the private and public sectors can be improved, and to develop policy positions to support that work. The BSA publishes research findings, polling data, policy papers and case studies to help build awareness and understanding of the industry among government officials, MPs, opinion formers and other stakeholders. The organisation conducts considerable research work has a published substantial research with Oxford Economics into the size of the market across the private and public sectors. The work found that the industry as a whole directly employs 10% of the workforce - some 3.1 million people - and has a turnover equivalent to over 8% of economy-wide output. The organisation also publishes policy statements on government policies. The latest BSA Annual Review set out the contribution the industry makes across the private and public sectors.
