BuiltX Sustainable Design & Construction (BuiltX SDC) is an Indian architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firm that focuses on sustainable and socially impactful infrastructure projects for the non-profit sector. BuiltX is known for being the first AEC firm in India solely dedicated to collaborating with non-profit organizations, with a focus on healthcare, cultural and education sectors.
History
BuiltX was founded in late 2021 by Abdul Aleem, a civil engineer and graduate of Stanford University. The company was established in response to the challenges faced by non-profits in India, particularly during the second wave of the COVID- 19 pandemic in Bihar. Aleem recognized a critical need for robust healthcare infrastructure and noted that many non-profits were hindered by limited budgets, substandard construction quality, and delays caused by local contractors. BuilX is also described as a pioneer in delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions tailored specifically for non-profits in India.

* Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital: A 500-bed super specialty eye hospital in Bihar, poised to become the largest charitable eye hospital in India by the number of surgeries performed annually. The Facility conducts over 100,000 free eye surgeries annually, addressing critical healthcare needs in the region. It is considered a milestone for healthcare infrastructure in Bihar.
