Buddhika Chandradeepa Kurera, MBCS information technology professional pioneered in software localization and artifitial intelligence in Sri Lanka. Early life & Education Kurera was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. V. M. Kurera on August 8, 1987. He started his primary schooling at Sri Saranankara College, Bigiriya and completed his secondary education at Senanayake National College, Madampe and Joseph Vaz College. For the higher studies he went University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya and Northumbria University. He graduated with a B.Sc in Management Information Systems (Second Class Honors) in 2009. Professional Affiliations He has completed Sun Certified Java Programmer(SCJP), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist(MCTS) and Association of Accounting Technicians Sri Lanka (AATSL). Career His career starts in 2006 as an Sales Executive and after he word with many roles majoring in Information Technology. In 2009, he founded bckurera IT Consultants Ltd. at that time he was a undergraduate of the University of Peradeniya. Awards *The British Computer Society has awarded the membership in 2009. Contributions He is playing a significant role in enhancing rural IT literacy by introducing local language enabled solutions with no-cost to rural Sri Lankan schools with collaborating with Akuru Software Foundation. Under his supervision the foundation has lanched some special programs in rural areas to empower school children with IT literacy. "Sisu Sawiya" is one of the program currently run program by the foundation initiated by Kurera. His contribution to Natural Language Processing is also notable. Currently he is the director of the Akuru Software Foundation, Sinhala Language Research Laboratory, a non-profit organization founded in 2008. He is an initiative of PHP development in Sri Lanka. He published a book on PHP, Language in 2008 which was the first book which is written about PHP Programming in Sinahala. He commenced free seminars about dynamic web development and lecturing about web development since 2008.
