BroHats.com is a website based in Lake Mary, Florida. The business makes and distributes neon trucker hats with different sayings and catchphrases. It has been described as a "Viral Success" for many reasons, primarily because much of the advertising comes from College Students via word of mouth, and direct person to person advertising. The site was purchased by Brandon Rallo in 2011.
History
Brohats.com was founded by four students at the University of Florida in July of 2010. The company launched an initial seven hats, at a flat price of $10.
In July 2010, BroHats.com introduced the first set of Neon Party hats.
In September 2010, BroHats.com had mailed and shipped a hat to every state in the United States of America, including some international orders.
In January 2011, BroHats.com was acquired by Brandon Rallo, and moved its headquarters to Lake Mary, Fl.
In April 2011, A new product line was introduced, placing major on a Green with the word "Swag" screen printed on the front of it. New owner, Brandon Rallo, hired local developers to program a new online store and web server.
In June 2011, BroHats.com became one of five vendors for the Electric Daisy Carnival in Orlando, Florida. They also offered Custom Hats, following removal of the custom order feature a few months prior.
Marketing
Brohats.com claims to focus on organic and viral marketing. Official advertisement campaigns have ran on Total Frat Move and My Life Is Bro, two college niche sites. They also market to music festivals and local clubs, notably, the Electric Daisy Carnival, and Identity Music Festival.
Although the company does not release any official marketing information, it has been estimated that the company receives nearly 75% of sales from Viral Marketing. The remaining 25% come from a combination of music festivals, PPC campaigns, and niche advertising.
In The Media
BroHats.com has been featured in numerous newspapers and online media sources. Following the death of Osama Bin Laden, the newspaper the Guardian included a picture of a BroHat within an album that celebrated his death in pictures.
Reality Blogging site, the Dirty, posted a photo of a female college student wearing a BroHat. Comments about the girls attire were made. A similar occurrence happened on a blog on , a large number of students discussed weather or not the girls hat was an acceptable way to draw attention.
A popular blogging site, Fresh Wet Paint, wrote an article about the success of BroHats.com at local clubs and entertainment facilities.
The Alligator, a news paper focusing on college life, printed a news report summarizing the instant success and formation of BroHats.com
