The Briggs Family is a British/African family notable for their activism, social prominence and wealth. History The British/African Briggs family began when a member of the British Briggs family went to West Africa from England. Descendant Chief Young Briggs after discovering the town of Abonnema discovered Palm kernel and through this began the manufacturing of Palm oil and Palm kernel oil and over time becoming one of West Africa's biggest manufacturers and exporters of this palm oil and palm kernel oil and by so immersing the family wealth. The British Briggs' A Grandson of Chief Young Briggs, Kio Abel Briggs was later sent to Britain where he studied and worked as a marine engineer. It was here that he met one of his spouses and had a child. He continued to live and work in both West Africa and Britain. Descendants Annie-Marie Briggs (1952-) (Also known as Ann Kio Briggs) Is a prominent human rights activist, she mainly deals with the human rights of citizens from her ancestors home town Niger Delta. She is also the founder and director of Agape Birthrights a NGO. Kio D.
