Bridgewater Chocolate is a United States premium chocolate and confectionery company. The company was founded by Erik Landergen and Andrew Blauner in 1996, and is headquartered in the town of Brookfield, Connecticut. Bridgewater Chocolate is the largest premium confectionery manufacturer and distributor in Connecticut, and offers many retail locations in the United States and the Middle East, specializing in a variety of products by region. Bridgewater chocolate is notable as it is hand-dipped. History Bridgewater chocolate was founded in 1996 by Erik Landergen, an immigrant from Stockholm, Sweden. He also founded a seasonal restaurant known as Aquivit, which operates in New York City. The company is named after Erik's hometown, Bridgewater, Connecticut. In 2016, the company partnered with Alshaya and expanded its operations into Kuwait, being their first location in the Middle East. The company now also has retail stores in Bahrain and Qatar. In 2010, Bridgewater Chocolate produced over 80,000 pounds of chocolate from their confectionery in Brookfield. It is reported that twenty percent of all annual sales take place in February around Valentine's Day. Markets The chocolate is avaialble variously in Connecticut, and at both Bridgewater stores. Known mail-order customers of the company include Celine Dion, Russell Crowe, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Upscale New York City grocery Dean & DeLuca are also purveyors. In 2016, a branch opened at the Mall of Qatar. In 2017, a branch opened at Doha Festival City.
