Bridget Mearns

Bridget Mearns is the executive officer of BILD Lethbridge Region and a second-generation politician. Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Mearns is the daughter of former Lethbridge-East MLA Bridget Pastoor. On July 22, 2021, Mearns announced her candidacy to become Lethbridge's first female mayor.
Education
Mearns graduated from Catholic Central High School. Mearns received an executive management MBA from Royal Roads University and a BA from the University of Lethbridge. She also holds a diploma in French language from the University of Rouen in France.
Career
Beginning in 2009, Mearns worked for Lethbridge & District Exhibition on local development until 2018. She was also involved with the Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce as a member of the advisory board and a member of Team Lethbridge at this time. During her time on City Council, Mearns had many notable accomplishments, including advocating for the creation of a curb-side recycling program and changing the term 'alderman' to 'councillor' in an effort to further gender equality.
Mayoral Race
Mearns announced her mayoral candidacy on July 22, 2021, in an effort to become Lethbridge's first female mayor. Mearns stated in her mayoral announcement that experience as the executive officer of BILD Lethbridge prepared her to tackle some of Lethbridge's most pressing issues, such as affordable housing.
Mearns has also publicized her support for tackling homelessness and the current opioid crisis whilst supporting local businesses and building a safer community.<ref name=":2" />
