Brian Daniel Smith

Brian Daniel Smith, (born 06MAY1984) is an American adventurer, Patriot, and Sailor. He is best known for his exploring in the local areas around the duty stations that he served at while in The United States Navy 2006 until present. He has backpacked, camped, SCUBA dived, mountain climbed, and white water rafted in places like the United States, The Kingdom of Bahrain, The Bahamas, Costa Rica, and Italy to find old relics of history and document them on film.
Personal Life
Smith was born at Barberton citizens hospital in Barberton, Ohio. Smith then spent the next 12 years of his life in Akron, Ohio with his mother(Sue Smith) and two older sisters(Jennifer Anderson and Cheryl Hopkins). In 1997, just after his 13th birthday, Smith was awarded to his 18 year old sister Jennifer by the Children's Services Division . For the next 5 years Smith would go back and fourth living in Doylestown, Ohio and Norton, Ohio with Jennifer, her first husband Dan Dawson, and her father Joseph Smith. Joe Smith had no legal of biological connection to Brian Smith, other than he was Smiths mothers first husband, and Jen and Cheryls father. Joe ended up being Brians step in Dad and took care of him as his own, because Smiths biological father Rodney Howard had his own life and family.
Work and school History
While in Chippewa Middle School and Chippewa High School in Doylestown, Ohio Smith played 2 years of football, 1 year of basket ball, and 4 years of Wrestling. Smith was a good athlete, but was often disqualified to participate due to being suspended from fighting.
Smith dropped out from Norton High School in 2002 and began working jobs like Pizza Hut, Acme Markets, Ward Trucking, Advance Auto Parts, and the Farmers Exchange. Due to his natural nack for cars, and his experience at Advance Auto Parts, Smith got a job as a basic tecnition at Serpentinni Chevrolet in Wadsworth, Ohio. After about a year Smith quit his first good job to go to the University of Akron for business with the hopes of opening his own restaraunt and bar. Smith went broke after about one and a half years of attempting school and work, so he joined the United States Navy to be a Master-at-arms military police.
Military Service
Smith joined the U.S. Navy on 30June2006 and went to boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois on 26Nov2006. After his 8 week basic training he was held there temporarily for 2 weeks and in his off time walked the streets of Chicago going in and out of all the attractions.
Smith then went to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio TX for his 8 week "MA A-School" to teach him how to be military police. He graduated with the honor of "Distinguished Graduate" recieving a award certificate and rare command coin.
Smith's First duty station was The Kingdom of Bahrain in early 2007, and this is where he first started exploring in his off time. Smith took trips to all the musiums, wild life preserves, and many sights.
Smith went to the bahamas in early 2008, and really started his exploring lifestyle. He searched out Caves, Blue holes, , and plane wrecks.
For smiths 3rd tour he was sent to Naples, Italy in 2010 and began exploring the history of Europe more then the mangrove swamps of Andros.
Exploration
Costa Rica : In 2010 Smith took a personal adventure trip to San José, Costa Rica. On his trip he took a trip outside the city almost every day seeing things like the Costa Rican Rainforest, Arenal Volcano, The Baldi thermal hot springs, and the Rio Celeste.
Andros : He took over 100 trips into the Andros jungle in search of lost Bahamian and English settlements from the 1800's and document them. He also found over 10 plane wrecks island wide, and documented those on film too. Smith has been Splunking through 2 large, and 1 small, cave system on Andros to take a photo record. While on Andros Smith began Scuba diving in the ocean for ship wrecks, and in Blue holes for things dropped. He also became a avid spearfisherman using his Ray Odorpole spear.
Bahrain : In early 2008 Smith took a team deep into the Shaikh Isa desert in southern Bahrain to snorkel for pearl bearing clams. Smith also would often act as a tour guide for people to see the Tree of Life in Bahrain. Often in Bahrains desert you could see camel and Oryx.
United States : Smith had many camping and backpacking expeditions in Akron, Ohio while he was younger. In early 2009 he drove with his father across the U.S. and saw 11 of the states in a two week period.
Film and Photos
Smith documented many of his expeditions whith photos and some videos. Most have been uploaded to sites like Facebook, myspace, and youtube for all to see.
In 2005 Smith was in a short film called The loosers have a junkyard where he played a mute killer who chased a traveler to his death.
Organizations
Smith is, or has been, a member of The Boy Scouts of America, The U.S. Navy, VFW, American Legion, and AMVET.
Charities
In the early 1990's Smith and his mother would ofter volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
After he jointed the Navy he would often donate his time to pass out food and clothing to local areas in need.
In 2009 he took "Flat Stanley" through 2 islands of the Bahamas, and 11 states, for a 2nd grade class in Cleveland Ohio.
In early 2010 Smith donated to www.UnFuckTheGulf.com to clean up the oil spill in the gulf of mexico.
