Robert Brett Mellor (4 February 1960 - 2019), known as Brett Mellor, was an English professional footballer born in Huddersfield, and educated at Holme Valley Grammar School, who played as a defender in the Football League for Huddersfield Town. He later joined Barnsley, but never appeared for that club in the league.
Mellor later joined the police force, and subsequently ran a pub. In the early 1990s he managed New Mill FC of the Huddersfield and District Association Football League. In his 50s he experienced issues related to mental health and drunkenness, and appeared in court multiple times. He died in 2019.<ref name=death />
