The Boston Leadership Institute (BLI) offers selective summer STEM research programs out of the Dana Hall School, a private preparatory and boarding school located in Wellesley, MA. High achieving 8th graders through rising high school seniors apply and undergo a selective admissions process. Programs are led by teachers who hold major teaching awards, teach at top ranked schools, and/or hold advanced degrees from universities such as Yale, Harvard, and Princeton. Awards The Boston Leadership Institute was named among five top summer science programs in the country by New York Times subsidiary, about.com in 2012. The Boston Leadership Institute was again named among the top summer science programs in the US by New York Times subsidiary, about.com, in a revised and expanded 2015 list. History Founded in 2011, the Boston Leadership Institute is privately-held by Jane Bybee who holds a PhD in Psychology from Yale University and was Recipient of the Excellence-in-Teaching Award, Northeastern University's highest teaching honor, and Zhendong Zhu, who holds a M.Sc. from Beijing University and a PhD. from the University of Fribourg, and who has served on the Executive Committee of the Chinese American BioMedical Association. 3 Week STEM Research Programs Biological Research - Synthetic Biology The flagship program of the Boston Leadership Institute is led by Jim Dixon, co-creator of, BioBuilder, a synthetic biology software program developed at MIT. Jim Dixon was named 2012 Outstanding Biology Teacher by the National Association of Biology Teachers. The Biological Research program was featured in an article in the March/April edition of Imagine, a publication of the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Additional program information is available online.
