Boarhouse

Doug and Marty's Boarhouse or Chesterfields, as it was previously known, is a 24 hour bar and restaurant located in central Moscow. The bar was opened in 1997 by Canadian Doug Steele along with expat club-owner Jean-Michel and Englishman Martin Bainbridge. Doug was previously the owner of the well known night club in Moscow, The Hungry Duck. Steele left the Boar House in 2006 to form the Doug Steele Restaurants venture, planning to open a series of restaurants and bars throughout Moscow. This venture failed in 2007 after the opening of three establishments - one of them has now closed and the others are under new management.
Doug was asked to come back in 2008,to revive the bar's sagging fortunes. The bar was renamed "Hot Dogs".He remained for 6 weeks and left to other ventures in Moscow. The bar is a shadow of its once proud self and is slated for closure as the owners have plans to build a retial/office complex on the site.
The Boarhouse was a popular place for Moscow expats and visiting foreigners. Foreigners are scarce now,due in part to the crisis as well as the style of the bar. However, one of the other reasons for its popularity was/is due to Russian prostitutes.
