Blyth RFC is a rugby union team based in Blyth, Northumberland in the north-east of England. The club currently competes in Durham/Northumberland 3 the ninth tier of the English rugby union system. Blyth have three senior men's teams and a full junior section. History There was a rugby club in Blyth during the period of 1921-1937 but the game disappeared until the creation of the current club in 1961.The rugby club was re-founded in 1961 through the efforts of Peter Daley and Bernie Cranmer. Blyth rugby players famously gained much media attention during the 2015 Rugby World Cup when a video of a 'Geordie' Haka went viral Blyth last won promotion back in 2012 after winning the Durham/Northumberland 2 Division title. However, since then Blyth have faced two relegations and now currently reside in Durham/Northumberland 3 after being relegated from Durham/Northumberland 2 in 2020.
