Blieder drive is a faster-than-light means of propulsion that can carry man to distant galaxies. It was first mentioned in the novella And Then There Were None by Eric Frank Russell, first published June 1951, in Astounding Science Fiction, vol. XLVII, no.4. Blieder Drive is also used in the Russell book The Great Explosion. Blieder Drive is used as a means of interplanetary propulsion in the Doctor Who episode The Caves of Androzani. Blieder Drive is used in The Conquerer Universe series of Harrier comics. In the Allen Steele novel Coyote, a prototype Blieder Drive is used aboard the URSS Alabama.
