Blarney United Football Club is an Irish amateur football club. Blarney United was founded in 1949 and today has over 500 members. The club plays at O Shea Park, Tower. The club currently has teams in the Cork Schoolboy League and Munster Senior League, Munster Junior League s well an Over-35's team in the Beamish Floodlit League. The senior team boasts a number of former League of Ireland players, including former Cobh Ramblers players Ken Coleman, John Meade and Conor Meade and Irish Internationals Ray O Leary & Allan Weldon. Blarney United have faced Derry City FC, FC Carlow and Sporting Fingal in recent FAI Cup ties at O'Shea Park. While defeated 3-1 by Derry City in 2007 and 4-0 in 2013, Blarney overcame Newstalk A Championship side FC Carlow by 2-1 in the 2009 competition before going out to Sporting Fingal by 2-0. The 2010-2011 season has proved to be one of the most successful in the clubs history with success at both schoolboy and adult levels. The Munster Senior League team became the first in the clubs history to win both the Beamish Cup and the O'Connell Cup following penalty shootout victories against both Douglas Hall and Rockmount.
