BlackCat Anarchist Collective

The BlackCat Anarchist Collective is a small and inactive libertarian communist group in Auckland, New Zealand. It was "officially" started after an occupation of Auckland's central ANZ bank in protest against the bank's involvement in Iraq. Members of the group had been involved in other political activity prior to the groups forming. Blackcat was focused on class struggle and direct action as a tactic and principle for destroying capitalism through social revolution. The primary tactic of the group was involvement in workplace struggle and community issues. The group is now defunct. Blackcat's former members are now involved in the union movement, animal rights organising, the Auckland Anarcho-Feminist Syndicate, Food not Bombs, Critical Mass, supporting the Organisasi Papua Merdeka, Radical Youth, Indymedia and Students for Justice in Palestine.
