Bird Luckin are an independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Specialists. They are a top 50+50 Accountancy firm, as published by Accountancy Age Magazine, ranking 78 in 2011, up from 83 in 2010. Bird Luckin are based 30 minutes from London, with offices located in Chelmsford and Stansted in Essex.
History
James Luckin of Luckin and Sheldrake commenced in business as an accountant in Chelmsford in 1870 and became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1882.
'Luckin and Sheldrake is one of the oldest provincial firms; the Institute itself was incorporated in 1880, ten years after the firm was founded,' said the ICAEW's Accountancy Magazine when describing the firm's centenary in 1970.
Bird & Partners had its roots in Brentwood in the 1930's, the name Bird & Partners was registered in the early 1950's.
Bird Luckin and Sheldrake resulted from a merger in 1976 between Bird & Partners (Brentwood based) and Luckin & Sheldrake, which had offices in Braintree, Chelmsford, Dunmow and Witham, following another merger in 1990 the name of the firm was changed to Bird Luckin.

Essex Business Excellence Awards - Sponsorship
The Essex Business Excellence Awards are organised by the Essex Chronicle Media Group. The awards are designed to recognise excellence, innovation, best practice and corporate social responsibility in businesses right across the county.
Bird Luckin has been the sponsor of the Customer Care and Service category of the Essex Business Excellence Awards since they began 1998. Bird Luckin celebrated their 9th year as joint overall sponsors and judges of the Essex Business of the Year Awards in 2011.

Essex Community Foundation
During 2009, Bird Luckin set up a charitable fund managed by a local charitable trust, the Essex Community Foundation, which ensures that all funds raised are distributed to local charities.
Race for Business
Bird Luckin have competed in the Race for Business every year since 2008 to help raise money for charity's in taking to the streets of Chelmsford for the three and a half mile run.
Help for Heroes
In July 2011 Bird Luckin sponsored Thorndon Park Golf Club to produce a cookbook to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes. The cookbook raised over £40,000 for Help for Heroes in 2011.
Less Paper Office
Bird Luckin introduced a new Document Management System in 2007 which has resulted in a reduced impact on the environment.
