William H. Crumpton Jr. (July 24, 1976 - July 7, 2004), better known by his ring name Billy Redwood, was an American professional wrestler who primarily competed in Maryland and Pennsylvania-based independent promotions. Professional wrestling career Maryland Championship Wrestling Trained by Corporal Punishment, Jimmy Cicero, and The Bruiser, Crumpton debuted in 2001, and chose the ring name "Redneck" Billy Redwood. On February 17, he teamed up with Tommy Idol at an Eastern Wrestling Federation event to defeat Mongoose & Ty Street. He competed in an MCW Heavyweight Title #1 Contendership battle royal which was won by Corporal Punishment (one of his trainers), and in the same day he lost to King Kong Bundy, but defeated Gillberg six days later. On April 28, he defeated Ronnie Zukko in a tournament final to win the vacated MCW Rage Television championship. He had only one reign with the title and held it for over 81 days. That same day he faced Corporal Punishment in a Main Event Wrestling show. He lost the title to Julio Dinero at the 2001 Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup. He won a battle royale on August 18. Other promotions On August 24, Redwood made an appearance in Hardway Wrestling, where he teamed up with Bart Scholl, losing to The Beauty And The Beast (Love Bug & Marshall Law) in a HW Tag Team Title match. In a four way steel cage match for the HW Tag Team Title, he once again lost, failing to win the title. On November 15, at the PWF Backseatz Collide event, he was defeated by Rockin' Rebel, but would eventually team with him on December 13 to defeat The Rachiez. On January 12, 2002, at the CZW Answering The Challenge event, Redwood, now under the name Billy Beater, teamed up with Greg Matthews and were defeated by The Rachiez. At the 5th Annual Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup: The Last Dance on July 16, the Rookie Battle Royal was a no contest when he, The Bruiser and Royce Profit interfered; they would later be defeated by Julio Dinero and Jimmy Cicero. On August 15, 2003, back in Hardway Wrestling, Redwood teamed with The Hungarian Barbarian to defeat The Bad Crew to win the HW Tag Team Title. They teamed up once again in Redwood's last match where they defeated Mongoose & Rockin' Rebel. Death On July 7, 2004, Crumpton, whose career ended due to neck surgery, was killed in a car accident after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel of his car which eventually exploded.
