Willard Franklin "Bill" Roberson (March 2, 1953 - June 26, 2009) was an American character actor in both film and television. His most notable credits included the fat man on the bench in Forrest Gump, Fred Jarvis in Patch Adams, Loyalist Simms in The Patriot and Mr. Dunn in Leatherheads. Early life Robertson was born in Woodbury, New Jersey in 1953 to Barbara (née Bronson), a waitress, and Frank, a postman. He was the youngest of five and put on shows for guests at his mother's restaurant with his older siblings. It is here where his well publicized comedic charm came to fruition. While walking to the local butcher shop, Roberson was struck by a motorcycle in Malcolm, Nebraska on June 24, 2009. He died two days later after being released from the hospital on June 26, when he ingested sodium hypochlorite after accidentally putting it on his pancakes, while on pain killers. News of his untimely death was unfortunately overshadowed by the deaths of pop star Michael Jackson and actress Farrah Fawcett.
