Bianco di Lierna

(white of Lierna) is a grape variety that originates from the Ancient Rome region of Italy, the Village of Wine, situated on the river of Lake of Como, Lierna.
Lierna a territory cultivated since ancient Rome vineyards time from the lake to the slopes of the "Grigna".
Terre Lariane and Lierna Terroir
Lierna in inside the "Terre Lariane" IGP area, with the production of wine , and includes the following types of wine: White, Red, Rose, White Passito, Red Passito, Novello and Rosso Novello Rosato.
The lands of Lake Como in Lierna are precious for the quality of the soil suitable for the cultivation of particular grapes since the Ancient Rome, we already knew that the black-coloured soil of Lierna containing a high percentage of particular unique humus, phosphoric acids and phosphorus that make the soil very fertile and which produces a high agricultural yield.
Lierna's land are very valuable, not just for the flat, but also almost impossible to find, for their biological quality but for the particular and unique microclimate available with a side bordered by the lake and the other from the rocks of the mountain, that on the other hand reduce the possibility of extensive crops but are perfect for the cultivation of vineyards in steep areas. To help this microclimate are there is also the unique lake winds including the unique types of winds called "Breva". On the side the village of Lierna takes its name also from the Latin Hibernate testify the mild climate.
Wine
The "Bianco of Lierna" is pale yellow, the taste of it is crisp, elegant, mineral, harmonious, fresh, and with a long fruity finish. The versions "Frizzante" and "Passito" are also possible.
The version "Rosé of Lierna" having a cherry-pink color,is very particular; the smell has aromas reminiscent of violets, plums and blueberries; the taste is fresh,full and with a final floral and fruity.It may also present versions of Frizzante and Novello.
Viticulture and winemaking
The particularly mild climate of the lake and the winds allow a particular ripening of the grapes that give it a unique flavor.
"Bianco di Lierna" blanc be greatly influenced by decisions in the winemaking process. One decision is the amount of contact that the must has with the skins of the grape.
Another important decision is the temperature of fermentation that they can get with the particular temperature and humidity that is created in the cellars of Lierna.

History and climate
Lierna, for its special fertile land suitable for vineyards and special its wineries is also called the 'Village of Wine'. In the past the castle of Lierna, which hosted several royal families and on which there are many legends, served to store wine product in Lierna to be traded through the navigation thanks to the natural protection of Riva Bianca and Riva Nera beaches.
