Bhushita Ahuja

Bhushita Ahuja is an international chess player and the Co-founder of Samvedna Foundation, through which she empowers underprivileged children by making chess education easily accessible to them. She is also the Author of the book ‘Open Your Wardrobe for Answers’ which was published in 2020 and is based on Clothing Psychology. Bhushita is furthermore a pageant queen with the title of 2nd runners up of Alee Cub’s 23rd Miss Teen India 2021 under her name. She has also been crowned winner of Miss Teen India United Nations 2022-23 for which she’s chosen to represent the country in the World Finals at Vietnam.
Early Life
Born and brought up in Delhi in a joint family, Bhushita spent her childhood years studying and playing chess. A student of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, she was actively involved in the chess club at her school since 2nd grade and represented the institution at numerous events. She became Delhi State Under 17 Women Chess Champion in 2017 and having participated in Commonwealth games in the same year, she also represented India in Czech Republic. As a child, Bhushita was always a bright student, displaying promising results in both academics and sports. She also enjoyed exploring her creative side, for instance when she devised her first ever business plan based around the concept of initiating an online book exchange portal as a part of her venture idea in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) Programme. Always engaged in some activity or another, Bhushita tried various avenues such as Karate, dance, piano, art others in order to experience a fulfilling childhood.
Career
Bhushita, deeply passionate about the game of chess, founder her social enterprise Samvedna in 2019 in order to teach the sport to underprivileged in the society. She organised a chess tournament in collaboration with Delhi Chess Association in December 2019 at The Banyan Tree School, New Delhi, where they saw the participation of 250+ players and were able to successfully raise funds in order to support their cause. Sponsored by ONGC, the event was endorsed by the former Sports Minister of the country, Kiren Rijiju, who was present as chief guest. The event was further covered by several media houses including Punjab Kesari and Chess Base India to name a few. Post the event, Bhushita was able to start 2 physical centres in collaboration with Sewa Bharti NGO but with the unprecedented events leading since the strike of the pandemic, they shifted their activities online, and with over 20+ coaches volunteering for the organisation, they have been able to teach 500+ underprivileged kids from across 7 states in the country as of 2021. Furthermore, being a fashion enthusiast, Bhushita did extended research on the topic of Clothing Psychology and inspired by her study, she decided to write a book on the topic and got it published in 2020 under Notion Press. The book covers topics like colour psychology, Identifying various personality traits through clothing, interpreting personal style, understanding why we dress to impress and how to dress for success. The book was quite successful post launch with several sites enlisting it on their portals, increasingly high sales and coverage of several media channels. Bhushita took her interest in the subject to the next level and further enrolled herself for a course on Image Consulting offered by ICBI, hoping to be a certified consultant in the field. She also has actively shown participation in pageants and is recognised for her achievement in the national level Miss Teen India pageant run by the prestigious Alee Club wherein she was crowned 2nd runners up.
