Bethanchowk Narayanthan

Bethanchowk Narayanthan is a significant religious and tourism site located in the Kavrepalanchok District of Nepal. Standing on a hilltop, it offers a blend of natural beauty and spiritual importance.
History
The temple's establishment is attributed to a Malla king of Bhaktapur. The ruled the Kathmandu Valley from the 13th to the 18th century, and they were known for their patronage of religious and architectural sites.
Religious Significance
The site is home to a Hindu temple dedicated to lord Vishnu(Narayan). The temple is a revered pilgrimage site, and special celebrations are held there, particularly during Falgu Purnima (Holi), the festival of colors.
Location and Elevation
The temple is situated in the southern region of the Kavrepalanchok District. It sits at an elevation of approximately 3,000 meters (around 9,840 feet) above sea level. The hill is a part of the Mahabharat hill range and is considered the highest peak in the range near Kathmandu, earning it the nickname "King of Hills.
Views & Scenery
From the summit, there's a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view. On a clear day, vast range of the Himalayas, including peaks like Mount Everest, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the Langtang region can be seen. The unique geography of the location also allows for a simultaneous view of the low-lying plains of the Terai region in the south.
Distance from Kathmandu
It is located about 52-57 kilometers away from Kathmandu , making it a popular destination for a short trek or overnight camping trip. The journey often involves a drive to Dhunkharka, which serves as the starting point for the final hike to the summit.
