Bernhardt Seifert

Bernhard Ulrich Seifert (1942- ), is a Melbourne-based property developer best remembered for his roles in two landmark legal cases.
Business Ventures
After trying his hand at various ventures, Seifert eventually settled upon property development in the 1990s, establishing a company called Luxury Developments Pty Ltd, specializing in the developments of small unit developments on blocks highly prized areas of Melbourne's leafy Eastern suburbs.
Seifert’s most public case, however, concerned his plan to subdivide land on a prominent corner of the leafy suburb of Ivanhoe which was subject to single dwelling covenant. Local residents however, took the matter to the Supreme Court of Victoria and established a landmark decision which prevented the development from proceeding.
